Development of a novel anticoagulant with minimal bleeding risk

Lead Applicant

Dr Helen Philippou

Project Summary

Current anticoagulation therapy to prevent clot formation has many unmet clinical needs. Major complications associated with current anticoagulation are bleeding and difficulty in administration due to the need to monitor patient blood samples to assess dosage requirements. This project aims to develop a new oral anticoagulant that addresses most of the unmet clinical needs of current and emerging anticoagulation.

The fund will enable research studies to continuation/progression of a hit identification and hit-to-lead finding project of small molecule inhibitors of a novel coagulation target.
