Current analysis of the programme and other substantial funding for clinical research awarded to particular specialties within the Trust has identified research areas of clinical strength at Leeds which include: Cardiovascular and Diabetes, Genetics, Musculoskeletal and Dentistry, Nutrition and Obesity and Oncology, Haematology and Pathology.
Evidently, further support and development of this clinical research expertise through advances in medical and biomedical research will accelerate the pace of introducing new ways of managing and treating these diseases and bringing benefit to patients.
The BHRC has therefore adopted a strategic framework whereby world-class research within the four University Faculties disseminates to support recognised clinical research strengths at Leeds. This activity is reinforced by relevant research in applied health and clinical trials, thus creating a series of “translational research pipelines” from across the University into biomedical and health service applications within the NHS.
