About
Steve Marsden is a Professor of Organic Chemistry in the School of Chemistry at Leeds. He received his PhD from Imperial College and worked as a NATO postdoctoral fellow at Columbia University, before starting his independent career at Imperial College in 1994, moving to Leeds in 2001. His research addresses the development of new, cleaner and more efficient approaches to the preparation of biologically active molecules, including pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. He is an integral part of the team that has established the new Institute of Process Research and Development at Leeds, and leads the Transformation Fund in this area. He has worked widely with industry through a variety of mechanisms and for the past three years he has held a Royal Society Industry Fellowship, investigating barriers to technology transfer between Universities and the chemical industries.
