About
Dr. Lorger obtained her Ph.D. degree in biology from the Darmstadt University of Technology, Germany. During her postdoctoral studies at the University of Zurich, Switzerland and at The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, CA, USA she focused on breast cancer progression and metastasis.
The goal of our current research is to pinpoint molecular mechanisms leading to breast cancer metastasis. We are particularly interested in the role of tumour microenvironment in the brain at the cellular and molecular level, with a main focus on the identification of potential therapeutic targets. We are also developing a cell-based approach for the delivery of therapeutic agents to metastatic brain lesions. This approach aims at overcoming current limitations in drug delivery to the central nervous system.
