About
Darren joined the BioScreening Technology Group in November 2010 after working for over seven years as a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Leeds. Darren was educated at the University of Hull in Biomedical Sciences and spent a year working in Clinical Biochemistry. He studied for his PhD in developmental biology at the University of Edinburgh.
Darren’s research interests lie in the development and use of new technologies to determine the pathways that are regulating biological processes. His aim is to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to enable the identification and characterisation of proteins to support the validation of potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets. He will do this by providing an interlinking service performing reverse genetic screens and developing probes for biomarkers/drug targets but also by collaborating closely with the other Technology Groups when needed.
Collaboration
The BSTG has formed collaborations with researchers across numerous divisions within the University of Leeds, including the School of Chemistry, Faculty of Biological Sciences, and the Leeds Institute of Molecular Medicine. Many of these collaborations have/will use the different approaches offered by the BSTG.
