International Biomaterials Workshop Success
One of our STRFs, Dr Rongjun Chen, has co-organised the ’Workshop on Biomaterials and Their Interactions with Biological and Model Membranes’ held in Salou, Spain 19th -23rd September 2011. The event was attended by 45 leading academics from numerous locations including Europe, New Zealand, Australia and India, and had strong cross-faculty representation from the University of Leeds.
The general theme of the workshop was the interaction of synthetic polymers, nanoparticles, surfactants, proteins, small biomolecules with biological and model lipid membranes. Leading scientists and experts from chemistry, physics, biology, engineering and industry participated in the meeting to give it a truly multidisciplinary environment. Drs Dejian Zhou, Paul Beales, Shengwen Ann Zhang, Andrey Brukhno, Lars Jeuken and Rongjun Chen from CMNS/Chemistry and Professor Peter Olmsted from Physics delivered invited presentations at the workshop.
